About horse hair pottery, made with your horse hair

Horse hair pottery made from your horse's hair, is made from earthenware clay that has been bisque fired to a lower temperature. This leaves the fired clay body porous, which enables it to absorb the carbon from burning hair. When it is removed, strands of pethair, are laid against the hot surface. As the ash forms, a small deposit of carbon and smoke is absorbed into the clay surface, leaving a permanent trace of the pet hair. As the piece cools it will no longer accept the hair, and the process is over. When the ashes are washed away and the piece is completely dry, it is usually polished with a paste wax to give it a soft satin finish and lasting luster. Because the pottery must be porous in order to achieve the effect, they are unable to hold water for fresh flowers, silk flowers will work, or can be used as a piece of art to enhance your décor. I can paint or carve the name of your pet onto to the piece. I also could paint a silhouette of your horses discipline, or a silhouette of your breed of dogs head. All of my pieces are One of A Kind handmade Originals, couple that with the unpredictability of the hair firing process and no two are ever alike.
